Schellenberg Wittmer advised Decarbonization Partners on the growth equity funding round of Neustark

23.08.2024

Schellenberg Wittmer advised Decarbonization Partners (a partnership between BlackRock and Temasek) in the USD 69 million growth equity funding round of the Swiss-based carbon removal provider Neustark.

Decarbonization Partners acted as lead investor in the growth equity funding round, which was supplemented by debt financing.

Proceeds from the funding round will underpin Neustark's rapid scale-up in the carbon dioxide removal market and will reinforce Neustark's continued growth path and support its mission to permanently remove 1 million tons of CO2 in 2030.

Neustark has developed an IP-protected solution designed to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere by capturing CO2 at point source, then binding it in mineral waste streams via an accelerated mineralization process.

Decarbonization Partners will enable Neustark to capitalize on Decarbonization Partners' global reach, as well as its dedicated decarbonization specialists.

The Schellenberg Wittmer team advising Decarbonization Partners consisted of Christoph Vonlanthen (overall lead), Alexander Zundel and Leila Ena (Corporate/M&A), Vincent Carron and Wilfried Dovetta (Employment), Lorenza Ferrari Hofer and Alisa Zehner (Intellectual Property), as well as Jean-Frédéric Maraia and Arthur Magnin (Taxation).
